FAQ

What is the Colour of October?

The colour of October is not a flat, block colour, nor a colour you can squeeze straight from a tube. It is as a complex mixture of many different colours- a one of a kind tint.

You see, I’ve come to think of Colour of October as an analogy for the various components of my life that intertwine to form the core of who I am.

If every individual experience I’ve had in my life was a colour on a giant paint palette, and these colours were mixed and blended together, that would be the colour of October.

Dark blues represent the hard, hopeless moments, and electric pinks represent days brimming with nothing but excitement…

My journey (which began on the 1st of October over twenty years ago) has been filled with so many experiences from all over the spectrum that have coloured me into the person I am today. I’ve been sharing the various stages of the work in progress that is myself (and my art) through Colour of October on various platforms for over a decade now.

On the days where my paint palette is looking rather black and bleak, my paintbrushes and pencils are always somewhere there to help me draw out the colour again.

Why do you use a wheelchair but I've seen you can stand/walk?

I've included this question here because most people don't actually ask the question, but I know lots of people still wonder. And I honestly don't blame people for being curious so...

Often times the media only represents wheelchairs as mobility devices used by people who have some kind of paralysis. I'm not paralysed. I use the chair because I of the chronic pain and fatigue I deal with day to day. For a very long time I was unable to walk or stand at all and I used the wheelchair 100% of the time. There's more time now I'm able to spend out of the chair, but I still need it to be able to be able to access lots of things. As backwards as this might seem, the wheelchair enables me to have as normal a life as possible. It was a lot to come to terms with for a long time, but without my wheelchair, I wouldn't be able to get out into the world, I wouldn't have the same quality of life.

Prints?

I am passionate about producing and selling art for the everyday home. While I try my best to keep commission work as affordable as possible, I understand there's not always going to be money in the budget for a custom artwork. Which is precisely why I sell prints. And precisely why I sell Standard Art prints and Fine Art (Gićlee) prints.

It means there is quality art available for sale at various price points so, ideally, no one feels left behind.

It is important to me that there is something for everyone. That my art is inclusive, not exclusive.

Standard vs Fine Art (Giclée) Prints

What is a Fine Art Print?

Fine art prints (otherwise known as giclee prints) are printed on 100% cotton, archival stocks and are produced using specialised genuine, lightfast inks.

This means they are museum quality. If properly cared for and left out of direct sunlight, fine art prints will last at least 100 years without significant fading.

Because of the specialised range of inks used, it also means the final print can be meticulously colour matched to be almost identical to the original painting.

What is a Standard Print?

Standard Prints are the perfect alternative for enthusiasts on a budget.

While they aren’t printed with the same premium range of inks, and may not stay in prime condition 100 years from now, they still look pretty damn good!

Printed on quality 220gsm lightly textured card, they are a still a great option, particularly if you are looking for something slightly more affordable.

All Standard and Fine Art (Gićlee) prints are printed right here in Brisbane, Australia by the legends over at Few & Far Studio.

Where can I buy your prints?
